The kicking game will be a question mark for the 2017 football season. The Rattlers will lose their only legitimate kicker from last year in senior Colby Blanton. Khalil Clark will be one of a number of redshirt freshmen who did not play in 2016. How much he plays in 2017 will depend on his grades and the level of competition.
Chris Faddoul was the only kicker signed by the Rattlers in 2017. As a punter he averaged 45 yards per kick his senior year, his longest 75 yards. The 45 yard average was the second highest of any high school punter in 2016. The 6’1″, 182 pound Faddoul had 53 kickoffs, 30 of them into the end zone for touch backs. He made 4 of 5 field goal attempts, the longest 36 yards. He adds a dimension to the punting team as a threat to run or pass. He averaged 6.9 yards rushing as a senior and had the longest individual run on the team at 45 yards. He was the starting quarterback for the Bulls, averaging 101 yards passing per game. With he and Clark on board the kicking game could end up in its best shape in years.
